The Hagia Sophia is Inaugurated in Constantinople
On December 27th, 537, the Hagia Sophia, a masterpiece of Byzantine architecture, was inaugurated in Constantinople (modern-day Istanbul). It served as an Eastern Orthodox cathedral, an Ottoman imperial mosque, and is now a museum.
